AAOS Leadership to Address COVID-19 Response—Webinar Update
Join AAOS on Thursday, April 23 at 8 p.m. C.T. (9 p.m. E.S.T.) for an update on the Academy’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. AAOS President Joseph A. Bosco III, MD, FAAOS, along with First Vice President Daniel K Guy, MD, FAAOS, and Second Vice President Felix H. Savoie III, MD, FAAOS, will be available live to discuss current efforts to support AAOS members during this challenging time. Programming will cover guidelines for restarting elective surgery, advocacy, coding, and the AAOS bylaws amendment. This interactive forum offers chat-box Q&A, which will enable participants to share their questions directly with the Academy’s leadership. | Academy’s COVID-19 Literature Review List
As a service to members, AAOS is conducting continuous literature searches and collating the most relevant studies for orthopaedic surgeons based on surgical implications. For added value, AAOS includes information related to severe acute respiratory syndrome and information and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health Guidance, and the World Health Organization Guidance.

Clinicians Can Earn MIPS Credits Through COVID-19 Clinical Trial Participation
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that clinicians who participate in the Quality Payment Program can earn Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) credits if they participate in a clinical trial and report clinical information by attesting to the new “COVID-19 Clinical Trials” improvement activity. To qualify for credit, clinicians must confirm their participation in a COVID-19 clinical trial using a drug or biological product treating a COVID-19 patient and report the results via a clinical data repository or clinical data registry for the duration of their study.

| Trump Administration Expects Senate Vote for Small Business Aid Soon
President Donald J. Trump expects the Senate to vote soon on a $450 billion COVID-19 aid package that would largely help boost the Small Business Administration’s lending program, which reached its $349 billion spending limit. The House of Representatives reportedly said it could vote as soon as tomorrow.

| ACS Issues Guidance for Local Resumption of Elective Surgery
The American College of Surgeons (ACS) released guidelines to aid local facilities in resuming elective surgical care. The guidelines fall into four categories: (1) COVID-19 awareness, (2) preparedness, (3) patient issues, and (4) delivery of safe high-quality care. Within these, 10 issues are addressed, including knowing community COVID-19 numbers and diagnostic testing availability, addressing workforce staffing issues, knowing your healthcare facility capacity, and more.
