STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN RESOURCES

Bill J. Crouch Cabinet Secretary

April 30, 2020

Since the implementation of successful public health measures has resulted in revised projections of rates of infection and COVID-19 related deaths in West Virginia, as well as ever strengthening supply chains for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other medical equipment and supplies, resulting in greater hospital preparedness and response capacity, the directives previously issued by this office on March 26, 2020, regarding the provision of health care services is rescinded.

The State of West Virginia will continue to rely upon licensed medical and health care professionals at hospitals, clinics, offices, and other facilities to exercise their best clinical judgment in the safe resumption or expansion of services in accordance the Governor’s Executive Orders and with the guidance and best practices developed, published, and disseminated by their applicable professional licensure and regulation boards under Chapter 30 of the West Virginia Code to protect health care workers and the public alike from COVID-19.

DHHR will continue to provide information and updates to health care providers for the duration of the State of Emergency.

Signed,
Bill J. Crouch, Cabinet Secretary
