As orthopaedic surgeons continue to comply with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ guidance on postponing elective surgeries, practices across the country are seeing a dramatic reduction in procedures and mounting financial impacts that are becoming more dire by the day.

The help of Congress is drastically needed to maintain access to care and to provide additional support for orthopaedic practices affected by the COVID-19 national health emergency. Without this support, many practices will face continued furloughs, layoffs, and indefinite closures which threaten patient access to musculoskeletal care.

Congress is crafting additional legislative packages to address COVID-19 now, so urgent action is needed to make our needs known. Contact your representatives in Congress today using the AAOS Advocacy Action Center!
